Dear Pilots,
PLVACC Controllers are pleased to invite you all to a fly-in which will take place at Warsaw Okecie airport, EPWA, on the 11th of November between 18 and 22Z.
This date is not accidental by any means - on the 11th November we celebrate Polish Independence Day which marks the restoration of Poland's independence in 1918. After 123 years of partitions Poland re-appeared on the map of Europe as a sovereign democratic country.
Every year, to celebrate this key moment in our history, we organise a dedicated fly-in. This time we have decided to opt for a full ATC coverage at all our main airports and combine it with a special booking system.
On top of the three Warszawa Radar positions, you can expect fully staffed: Warsaw EPWA (Delivery, Ground, Tower, Director and Approach), Krakow EPKK (Ground, Tower and Approach), Gdansk EPGD (Tower and Approach) and Poznan EPPO (Tower and Approach).
What about the booking system? Well, arrival bookings are based purely on your estimated time of arrival at the chosen airport and do not involve any stand/gate assignment - controllers will be doing this, upon your arrival, depending on current traffic situation. What we are expecting from you is that you provide us with as accurate as possible ETA's while making your bookings. This will help you to avoid any unnecessary delays.
If you decide to start your flying from one of the participating airports, you can book your departure slot and the system will assign you also a stand or gate. You are expected to be up & running and ready to taxi up to 15 minutes from the assigned time, i.e. if your slot is 1800Z you have to commence your taxi between 1800Z and 1815Z at the very latest.
Once you have made your booking, the system will send you a confirmation email which will additionally include all the important information you do need to familiarise yourself with and know.
Everybody is more than welcome, as always, to participate in the event. However, if you do not book your slot please be aware that you may be facing some delays as booked flights will have higher priorities. We strongly encourage all attending pilots to fly also return legs or make some internal hops - it will make our experience even more interesting and challenging!
Please include your booking date in the FP remarks section, especially when you have a further departure slot/stand assigned. This can be shown in the following way: ETA 1930 DEP 1945 stand 15R.
